About Split clips
Split clips is an automatic video splitter. Paste YouTube links and the server downloads each video, finds the scene changes, and cuts the video into shorter clips at those points, so every clip starts where something new begins. Results are kept in one folder per video.
You can also cut only the minutes you choose. Add one or several “from – to” parts per video; only those minutes are downloaded and split, which is faster and can bring a very large video under your plan’s file-size limit.
How to split a video into clips
- Sign in (or create a free account) and paste linksPaste one or more YouTube links, one per line. The page checks which qualities each video has.
- Choose quality and partsPick a quality for each video. To cut only part of it, add “from – to” times such as 5:30 to 12:00. Leave “To” empty to go to the end.
- Add to the queueVideos are processed one at a time. You can watch the stage, clips cut so far, speed and time left, and cancel at any moment.
- Preview and saveOpen a video’s folder to play each clip (a quick low-quality preview starts instantly), then save or delete clips one by one or in a selection.
Good to know
- Clips are deleted automatically 72 hours after they are ready. Save what you need before then.
- A split counts as one download of your 24-hour limit, and the size of the source video counts towards your data. Free accounts can split one video every 24 hours, up to 10 minutes long; Pro has no limit.
- A part is cut at a keyframe, so it may begin a few seconds early.
- Only split videos you own or have permission to use.
Frequently asked questions
How does it decide where to cut?
It analyses the picture (and the sound, for videos that are not extremely long) to find scene changes, then cuts the video at those points.
How long does splitting take?
It depends on the length and quality of the video and on how busy the queue is. The page shows live progress and a time estimate; lower qualities finish much faster.
Can I split just a section of a video?
Yes. Add one or more “from – to” parts. Only those minutes are downloaded and split.
Do I need an account?
Yes, a free account is enough. Split clips are private to your account and count towards your plan’s limits: free accounts get one split every 24 hours for videos up to 10 minutes, Pro is unlimited.
Where do my clips go?
Each video gets its own folder on the Split clips page, grouped by quality and part. Folders expire after 72 hours.
