About the YouTube video downloader
Toolskits is a free online YouTube downloader. Search by title or paste a link, choose a quality, and save the video as an MP4 file, or save just the sound as MP3. There is nothing to install: it works in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
Before you click, every quality button shows the estimated file size, and buttons that would go over your plan’s limit are greyed out with the reason. The More options table lists every quality the video really has, from 144p up to 4K where available, with its format, codec and exact size.
How to download a YouTube video
- Find the videoType a title or paste a youtube.com or youtu.be link into the search box and press Search. A pasted link is looked up straight away.
- Choose a qualityPick 360p, 480p, 720p or 1080p for video, or the Audio button for MP3. Open More options for other resolutions, M4A, or a different MP3 bitrate.
- Save the fileFollow the progress in the Downloads panel. When the file is ready, press Save. The download link stays valid for about 30 minutes.
Good to know
- You can download without an account (3 downloads and 300 MB every 24 hours, after a quick CAPTCHA). A free account raises that to 10 downloads and 1 GB; Pro removes the limits and the ads. See Plans.
- Downloads you make with the local helper count towards the same limits.
- Only download videos you own, that are in the public domain, or that you have permission to save.

Is this YouTube downloader free?
Yes. Without an account you get 3 downloads and 300 MB every 24 hours after a quick CAPTCHA, and a free account gets 10 downloads and 1 GB. Pro ($1.90 a month or $10.90 a year) has no limits and no ads. See the Plans page.
What video quality can I download?
The quick buttons cover 360p to 1080p. The More options table shows every quality the video actually offers, up to 4K or higher where available, within your plan’s per-file limit.
Can I download only the audio?
Yes. Use the Audio button for MP3, or open More options for M4A and for MP3 at bitrates from 64 to 320 kbps. There is also a dedicated YouTube to MP3 page.
Do I need to install anything?
No, everything runs in your browser. An optional local helper can make downloads use your own internet connection.
Why did my download fail?
YouTube sometimes refuses requests that come from servers. Try again, choose another quality, or use the local helper. Age-restricted videos cannot be downloaded.
Is it legal to download YouTube videos?
That depends on the video and on where you live. Only save content you own, that is in the public domain, or that you have permission to download. YouTube’s terms restrict downloading without permission.
